Break out the tinsel, dust off that gloriously ugly sweater, and join us for one of Redemption City’s favorite holiday traditions! Redemption City’s Annual Ugly Sweater 5K Run/Walk returns Saturday, December 12, 2026 at Cape Henlopen State Park for a morning filled with holiday spirit, family fun, friendly competition, and plenty of ugly sweaters—all while supporting adults experiencing homelessness throughout Sussex County.

Run it. Walk it. Bring the family. Bring your friends. Bring the UGLIEST sweater you can find! And this is definitely more than just a 5K! Along with the race, you can look forward to:

Our famous Ugly Sweater Duck Hunt — we’ll hide 24 sweater-wearing ducks throughout the course and event area. Find one, bring it back to the Redemption Station, and claim a prize!

Most importantly, every step supports a bigger purpose. Proceeds from the Ugly Sweater 5K help Redemption City provide shelter, outreach, case management, housing navigation, meals, basic necessities, and supportive services to adults experiencing homelessness in our community. You don’t have to be a serious runner to be part of this day. Come race for a personal best, walk with your family, compete for the ugliest sweater, hunt for a duck—or simply come enjoy a morning of Christmas fun while supporting your neighbors in need.
