Creativity, Connection & Community: Thank You, Nonviolent Seaford

Throughout September, Tuesdays at the North Star Navigation Center looked a little more colorful thanks to our friends at Nonviolent Seaford. Each Tuesday, Nonviolent Seaford joined us to offer meaningful art classes for individuals utilizing the Navigation Center. Participants had the opportunity to slow down, create, explore different materials, and spend time together in an environment that encouraged creativity and connection.

At Redemption City, we know that supporting someone experiencing homelessness means caring for more than immediate physical needs. Meals, showers, laundry, case management, identification assistance, healthcare connections, and housing navigation are critical—but so are opportunities that restore a sense of normalcy, encourage self-expression, build relationships, and simply allow someone to enjoy the moment.

That is what made these Tuesday classes so special.

Art provided a space where the focus wasn't on paperwork, appointments, housing barriers, or the circumstances that brought someone through our doors. For a little while, participants could simply create. Programs like these are also an important reminder of what becomes possible when community organizations bring their unique gifts into the North Star Navigation Center. Redemption City doesn't have to be the expert in everything. Instead, we can open our doors to partners who are willing to share their time, talents, and resources with the people we serve.

We are incredibly grateful to Nonviolent Seaford for showing up every Tuesday throughout September and intentionally creating these experiences for our participants. Thank you for bringing creativity, conversation, connection—and plenty of color—to North Star. 🎨❤️
